Only two more days of Sew Fab, you fabulous sewists!
Today, I’m sharing with you the fun I had with the Lexi pattern by ModKid. I was so not into the upcycle look just a short 6-8 months ago. My girls don’t have a lot of character tees in the first place, so that could have something to do with it. Now, in patterns designed for knits, I find myself seeing the possibilities for piecing together pieces of knit leftover from other projects or another opportunity to use that clearance t-shirt I just saw that is so cute, but too small.
That is the very situation I found myself in with this Lexi dress. I had the Lexi pattern printed out, but didn’t have a vision for what I wanted to do with it. Then we went to Old Navy and saw the t-shirts on clearance.
“Look, Mommy! It’s Sully and Mike Wazowski!”
Darn. It’s an 18 month size and there aren’t any more.
*ding* light bulb moment!
This is no ordinary upcycled t-shirt dress though, there’s a fun surprise in the back.
I had never tried a knit binding before this dress, but it worked out way better than I had supposed it would.
Think she likes it? I think so too.
The Sew Fab sale ends on the 13th. You can buy Lexi, and all the patterns in the sale individually at the designers’ own shops, but in the bundle, each pattern is only a dollar and change. A heck of a deal.
